Class action<\/h2>\n

Between 2008 and 2013, Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec deliberately manipulated the information submitted to the R\u00e9gie de l’\u00c9nergie by overestimating cost projections and underestimating revenue projections to obtain a higher profit than authorized. During this period, more than $1.2 billion was illegally charged to Quebecers.<\/p>\n

The plaintiff is therefore claiming an indemnity corresponding to the variation in Hydro-Quebec’s revenues between 2008 and 2013.<\/p>\n

Group members<\/h2>\n

All natural and legal persons established for a private interest, companies or organizations holding one or more subscriptions who were customers for the defendant Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec and paid invoices for their electricity consumption for one or more of the periods between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2013.<\/p>\n

Procedures<\/h2>\n

On December 11, 2019, the Quebec Superior Court authorized the class action<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On February 28, 2020, a judge of the Court of Appeal denied Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec’s application for leave to appeal<\/strong><\/a> this judgment.<\/p>\n

On October 15, 2020, the Supreme Court of Canada denied the application for leave to appeal<\/a><\/strong> sought by Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

On June 18, 2021, the Originating application<\/strong><\/a> was filed.<\/p>\n

On February 24, 2022, the Superior Court approved the notices to members<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
